Helen McArdle was born an entrepreneur, but she was also born a nurturer as the eldest of a Catholic family of five! Putting those skills together resulted ultimately in the formation of Helen McArdle Care, a synonym for quality care of the elderly in the North East that celebrated its 21st anniversary last year. If you know Helen it won’t surprise you that the Care Home business was by no means the first of this irrepressible woman’s business ventures – she started aged four. But family is as important to Helen as her business and so her ambitions were put on hold (more or less) while her four children grew up. No surprise either that they’re all actively involved in the business today or that her husband of 43 years is also a great support. It takes a special person to build a private business in a highly competitive and stringently controlled sector, personalise care and quality by giving it your name, sell it and then start again, but that’s exactly what’s happened! If you want to meet a great fun woman and hear a remarkable story – which is guaranteed to inspire anyone, whatever their age, skill-set or background, to start a business – don’t miss the 14th June.
This event will take place on Tuesday 14th June, 5.30pm for a 6pm start at Newcastle Business School at Northumbria University. Tickets are priced at £20.00+ vat + Booking fee
Horizon scanning is in the Hoult family’s business blood, but few could have foreseen the sort of crash that took Charlie from the top of his roller-coaster ride leading the Loewy Group’s £50million business to a high-profile and painful exit that left him with a fortune to rebuild in 2008. That said, when you’re a man like Charlie, the only way is up. Three years on and Hoults Yard, a sprawling kingdom of office and storage space developed by his father from a legacy of earlier Hoult business pioneers is being successfully repositioned to attract high-growth business owners from the region’s digital and creative industries sector and Charlie is also looking for the next ‘big thing’.
This event will take place on Wednesday 25th May, 5.30pm for a 6pm start at Newcastle Business School, Northumbria University, City Campus East 1, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 2SW Tickets are priced at £20.00 + booking fee + vat and can be booked online here: http://charliehoult.eventbrite.com/
