Wallsend Memorial Hall & People’s Centre
Wallsend Memorial Hall & People’s Centre is a charity providing services to the local community in Wallsend and surrounding areas. We operate from within a fantastic building, steeped in history. Originally founded in the 1870’s by the Hunter family (of Ship Building fame) and provided a cafe, meeting rooms, classrooms and a shop. In 1925 Sir John Hunter funded the constuction of our Memorial Hall offering social, cultural and recreational opportunities for the people of Wallsend. Importantly the building was a tribute to the shipbuilding company’s workers who lost their lives in the First World War.
Years later and the Wallsend Memorial Hall & People’s Centre’s continues to provide support to the local community and is passionate about it’s role in the regeneration of the Borough.
Funding has been secured to modernise the building and maximise on the unique space within our very special home. Plans for the future include the provision of conference and banqueting facilities, a unique location for Weddings and other private functions, as well as continuing to provide educational opportunities, training and guidance to the people of Wallsend.
