Marine engineer secures £7 million wind farm deal
A marine engineer has secured a £7 million renewables deal.
Tekmar Group is set to supply a power cable protection system to a “major UK offshore wind farm”.
Bosses say the apparatus – for an existing unnamed customer – will be delivered in late 2027.
They add the deal, which builds on a recent £7 million-plus agreement and a £3 million Middle East tie-up, emphasises County Durham-headquartered Tekmar’s “proven track record in delivering reliable, technically robust protection technology”.
Richard Turner, chief executive at the business, which operates from Aycliffe Business Park, said: “This contract reinforces our position as the clear market leader in subsea asset protection, with our technologies protecting two thirds of the world’s installed offshore wind capacity.
“This significant contract builds on our growing success and order book momentum.”
The firm also includes Pipeshield, which supplies equipment to protect subsea energy lines, and the Ryder-branded engineering consultancy, which has offices in Newcastle, London and Glasgow.
