Global Infrastructure strengthens leadership team

Highland-based civil engineering and construction contractor Global Infrastructure has strengthened its leadership team with a series of senior appointments, alongside a wider round of recruitment to support continued growth.

The form has appointed Kevin Williamson as managing director, following his promotion from commercial director.

He is joined by Stephen Logan, who has been appointed operations director, and Darren MacRae, who takes on the role of specialist works director.

Their appointments further bolster the Global Infrastructure’s senior leadership as it prepares to deliver major energy and infrastructure projects across Scotland.

Kevin said: “Having worked my way up the company as it has grown over 15 years, I can’t think of a more exciting time to be taking on my new role.

“As a trusted long-term partner to SSE and tier 1 contractors – BAM Nuttall, Balfour Beatty, and Kirby – in recent years we’ve supported major energy infrastructure projects across the country, from the North and East of Scotland, through to major logistics and operational facilities in Inverness and Dundee, and many points in between.

“These long-established relationships and our reputation for delivering projects of the highest quality perfectly position us to support the many opportunities to come.

“The last five years has seen Global Infrastructure evolve at pace, growing our turnover by 200 per cent.

“We’ve continued to adapt, both in scale and capability, and that’s been driven by the commitment and quality of our existing team, alongside a number of key appointments made more recently.

“With our strengthened leadership team in place, we are perfectly positioned to take the next stage of our growth journey – expanding our presence beyond the Highlands and across the country, be that organically or through considered acquisition opportunities as they arise.”

Alongside the director-level changes, Global Infrastructure has welcomed a total of 25 new team members over the past six months, expanding its workforce to 200 people across site and office-based roles.

The hires support a growing pipeline of work within the energy sector, including projects linked to the north of Scotland electricity network upgrade programme.

Chief executive officer Iain Henderson added: “We are delighted to confirm the appointments of Kevin, Stephen and Darren – three extremely capable leaders boasting 30+ years with the company between them and vast experience across the civils sector.

“With further additions to be made when new projects come on stream – we now have a great platform in place to deliver sustainable growth that is projected to see our turnover increase from £60 million to £100 million in the next five years.

“Global Infrastructure is proud to be playing its part in placing the Highlands at the heart of Scotland’s energy future.

“We are currently pricing, tendering and engaging with opportunities that could total up to £500 million across the energy and utilities sectors over the next five years, which could have a transformative impact on the Highlands and our communities.

“A secure and sustainable pipeline of work supports not only our own workforce, creating long-term skilled jobs and learning opportunities, but also underpins dozens of Highland subcontractors in the supply chain, including structural steelwork firms, M&E specialists, fit-out contractors, plant hire, haulage businesses, and materials suppliers.”
