Scottish duo to power retail digital drive
Two Scottish retail technology businesses have joined forces to strengthen digital support for independent convenience stores across the UK.
Dundee-based Snappy Shopper has appointed Edinburgh-headquartered Empros Retail as its preferred marketing partner, formalising a collaboration that has been developing since 2023.
Bosses say the agreement combines Snappy Shopper’s home delivery platform with Empros’ data-driven social media and performance marketing expertise.
They add the partnership is designed to help independent and group convenience retailers compete in an increasingly digital-first market, where strong online visibility is key to driving delivery sales.
Fraser MacDonald, retail director at Empros, said: “There are two things that are super important for retailers right now.
“One is getting online and utilising digital marketing.
“The second is offering fast, reliable home delivery.
“Snappy Shopper is the industry leader in convenience delivery and we’re leading in digital marketing for the sector.
“Our partnership just makes sense.
“There are other platforms out there that aren’t necessarily looking out for independents or individual retailers themselves.
“Our business philosophy aligns closely with Snappy and we both are committed to adding as much value as possible to the stores we work with.”
Rich Wetton, marketing director at Snappy Shopper, added: “Convenience retailers are competing with national operators investing heavily in digital marketing.
“Delivery is only one piece of the puzzle.
“Retailers also need the tools to market themselves effectively and retain customers long term.
“We have seen first-hand the impact Empros Retail has had for stores on our platform.
“Their genuine understanding of the industry made this partnership a natural next step.”
Founded in 2020, Empros has grown rapidly from its Scottish base and now employs a dozen staff.
Working alongside Snappy Shopper, the agency has helped retailers achieve year-on-year delivery sales growth of more than 70 per cent, with some stores surpassing 100 orders on launch day and generating returns of up to 25 times advertising spend.
Two tailored marketing packages will now be offered to Snappy Shopper retailers nationwide.
Ross Lile, director at Empros, added: “The convenience sector is one of the last major industries to fully embrace performance led digital marketing.
“It’s exciting to partner with an innovator like Snappy Shopper to ensure independent retailers have the same level of marketing sophistication as larger operators.”
