Higgins welcomes record trainee intake
Construction company Higgins Group has welcomed seven management trainees in the largest-ever intake to its degree apprenticeship programme.
The recruits will combine a fully funded construction-related BSc (Hons) degree apprenticeship with practical experience across the business during the five-year programme.
For their first 15 months, the trainees will rotate through four core departments to gain experience of the different disciplines involved in delivering construction projects before choosing an area in which to specialise.
Alongside attending university one day a week during term time, the trainees will spend four days gaining practical experience and applying their academic learning to live projects.
Each recruit will also be paired with a senior member of staff through Higgins’ mentoring scheme and join its Management Trainee Network.
The programme forms part of Higgins’ long-term investment in developing construction talent, with previous trainees progressing into senior positions across the business.
Dominic Higgins, chief operating officer at Higgins Group, said: “We’re delighted to welcome our largest-ever intake of management trainees to Higgins.
“It’s fantastic to see the programme continuing to grow and attracting talented young people who want to build a career in construction while gaining a degree.
“Apprenticeships have played an important role in developing our own people, including many who have gone on to senior positions within the business.
“By investing in the next generation from the start of their careers, we’re not only giving young people an opportunity to learn and progress, but also helping to develop the skills and future leaders our industry needs.”
