Jobs lost as family-owned skincare firm collapses

Jobs have been lost after a family-owned skincare ingredients firm collapsed.

Aromantic Limited has ceased trading.

Officials say 11 staff have been made redundant after the company, based in Forres, northern Scotland, suffered higher operating costs and falling revenue.

Administrator Business Rescue Expert said it “tried every avenue to enable the business to continue trading or sell it as a going concern”.

Aromantic Limited, which had a turnover of £1.1 million, was founded in 1997 by Kolbjorn Borseth, who later handed over the reins to son Benjamin.

It supplied oils, fragrances and other ingredients to home crafters, salon owners and beauty therapists.

Joint administrators Christopher Horner and Kevin Pinkerton, of Business Rescue Expert, have agreed a deal to sell the company’s assets, including its stock, websites and online platforms, to an unrelated party.

Kevin said: “The fall in revenue, combined with increasing raw material, shipping and employment costs, contributed to the business becoming insolvent.

“Aromantic took out short-term loans to keep afloat, but the repayment requirements had a material effect on its cash flow.

“Over the summer, the company sought our assistance to explore ways to keep the business going.

“Regrettably, a formal insolvency process was the only option.”
