North East businessman joins PM’s Russian delegation
The Chairman of a North East environmental engineering firm has joined PM David Cameron on a business delegation to Russia.
Geoff Turnbull, founder of the GT Group will join executives from BP, Rolls-Royce and London Stock Exchange on the trip, during which David Cameron hopes to bolster ties with Russian the Russian government.
GT Group has recently formed Russian links of its own, receiving a £50m contract from Gaz Group, the country’s leading automotive manufacturer.
Mr Turnbull now hopes this visit will allow the GT Group to introduce itself and discuss further business opportunities between the two countries.
He said: “GT Group is proud to have been chosen to join the Prime Minister’s Russian trade delegation and to meet influential business and political leaders.
The company will now supply exhaust gas control systems and engine brakes for a new range of heavy-duty diesel engine that GAZ will produce.
The designs for the gas control systems have been completed, and when full production begins in 2011, it is expected that 100,000 systems will be produced annually.
