Another boost for the North East film industry
A North East film production is due to go ahead thanks to a £55,000 of investment from the North East Creative Content Fund.
Producer Dean Fisher received the investment after choosing to film his latest crime thriller, Interview With A Hitman in the region.
Fisher teams up with debutant writer and director Perry Bhandal on this new venture, following the completion of his last film, The Man Inside, which he also filmed on Tyneside.
He said: “We are grateful for the continued support of our investors and partners in getting Interview With A Hitman off the ground.
“After shooting The Man Inside in Newcastle and having such a great experience, it made perfect sense to come back and shoot in the region.
“Newcastle offers us a film friendly environment with great locations all within spitting distance of each other, and with such a tight schedule and so many locations this film couldn’t have been made anywhere else.”
Interview With A Hitman stars Luke Goss, who after making a name for himself in 80s boy-band Bros, has gone on to carve a successful movie career in the US, starring in the likes of Across the Line and Blood Out.
The £2.4m Finance for Business North East Creative Content Fund is a partnership between Northern Film and Media and Northstar Ventures.
Michelle Cooper, investment manager at Northstar Ventures, said: “We are pleased to bring Dean back to the North East with another low budget, highly commercial film.
“We see his approach to filmmaking as the basis for sustainable success, and good for the region.
