Daisy Green Christmas Fair - Shipley Art Gallery, Newcastle. Saturday Nov 12, 10am-5pm. Free entry.
The first Daisy Green Christmas Fair will see over 40 local businesses offering beautiful homemade goods, as proceeds go towards charity FACT - Fighting All Cancers Together. Presents, food, treats, clothing, homeware and gifts will all be on offer, with the chance to swap clothes, shoes, books, jewellery, and a whole lot more. Those attending will receive a free goodie bag from the Daisy Green team, including the first every hand-bag sized copy of the Daisy Green magazine. A raffle and gift wrapping service will also feature, and all this in the lovely surroundings of the Shipley Art Gallery.

The latest American political drama from directed by, and starring George Clooney. Ryan Gosling plays the junior campaign manager for Mike Morris (Clooney), Governer of Pennsylvania, and gets a dose of dirty politics on the campaign trail. The Guardian said: “bleaker than the West Wing, and packs a stronger punch.”

Winter Evening Lights - Alnwick Gardens. Saturday Nov 12 10am-7pm, and Sunday Nov 13, 10am-4pm. Tickets: £11 adult; £9 concessions; £0.01 children.
Collect a glowing lantern and enter the night-time beauty of Alnwick Gardens, with the beautifully illuminated Grand Cascade. Admire the lights shining through the trees, and half-hourly water displays. Following a stroll through the gardens, take to the Pavillion cafe for a festive film and delicious treats to warm yourself up. Saturday evening will also feature local food producers.

Dave Gorman’s Powerpoint Presentation - Middlesbrough Town Hall. Friday Nov 11, 8pm-10pm. Tickets: £20 (over 16s only).
The man behind Are You Dave Gorman? and Googlewhack Adventure returns with a new brand new show. Forming a double-act - with a projector screen, Gorman’s new show aims to redeem the power of powerpoint from business meetings. The Telegraph said: “Gorman has seen his stock rise to such an extent that he’s poised, as never before, to make the leap from cult figure to mainstream phenomenon.”
Activities
Ice Skating - Centre for Life, Newcastle. Opens Saturday Nov 12. Tickets: £7.95.
The popular open-air seasonal ice-rink is back on Times Square, right outside the Centre for Life. Open all week until February, enjoy a skate with friends or family. Courses for novices, or those who want to brush up their skills, will be run throughout the period.

B>E>A>K - Independent, Sunderland. Friday Nov 11. Tickets: £5.
An experimental side-project bringing together many of Sunderland’s best musicians from the likes of Field Music, This Aint Vegas and Maximo Park. B>E>A>K present an exciting live show decked in bird costume and playing spiky, urgent sounds for fans of inventive music.
