Easts Businesses take tips from Award Winning Brewery
Accounting for Taste: Chartered Management Accountants from across the East Midlands and East Anglia attended a presentation last night to learn how a Midlands Brewery is achieving business success in the current climate. Castle Rock, the Nottingham brewer of real ale, was awarded the Overall Business Award in the SIBA (Society of Independent Brewers) national business awards in London (on Tuesday 14thNovember) and shared its success strategies with the regions Chartered Management Accountants.
Management Accounting is not simply about crunching numbers, it offers strategic and practical advice; helps make and support key decisions; and manage risk. Chartered Management Accountants have broad ranging business and management skills to complement their financial training. Attendees at the CIMA Castle Rock event looked at what the business has achieved so they can learn from it.
Sue Stapleford, Regional Chairman for CIMA East Midlands and East Anglia, said: ‘Chartered Management Accountants have been assessed in a practical business setting and can apply their business skills in many different areas, industries and roles. They go way beyond accountancy - they use finance skills to provide meaningful analysis, decision support and risk management. Continuous learning is part of the job and learning from an award winning business that is flourishing in these times just makes good sense.’
Colin Wilde, Castle Rock commercial director, said: ‘For Castle Rock to win the top award when up against such a high calibre field is a fantastic achievement.’
The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) run a series of events for students, members and guests in the East Midlands on a regular basis across the year.
