Tyne & Wear set for property showcase

The region’s commercial property market will receive a lift when one of the biggest property shows in the North takes place in Gateshead this month.

The Tyne and Wear Commercial Property Show is the leading event in the regional property calendar and will be held at the Hilton Newcastle Gateshead hotel on Tuesday May 15 between 10am and 4pm.

Organised by Tyne and Wear Development Company, the show aims to connect growing businesses with commercial property professionals and business support agencies to help drive the local market.

The event, which has been running for over 10 years, will showcase Tyne and Wear’s unique portfolio of properties and all the latest opportunities for businesses in the region.

This year’s show will bring together agents, developers, landlords and a wide range of support services to drive deal making and ensure businesses have access to all the advice and support they need under one roof.

Sarah Gibson, marketing officer at Tyne and Wear Development Company said: “The property market across Tyne and Wear and the rest of the UK generally is still challenging but there are some excellent deals and opportunities out there.

“Whether businesses are looking to invest in new premises, approaching the end of a lease or simply want to know more about finance and support available, this event will provide all the advice they need to get the wheels turning.”

The show will also feature a number of keynote presentations for businesses by leading professionals. Cheryl Blakey from the Business & Enterprise Group will introduce a new funding opportunity for SMEs, the Investment for Growth programme, while property expert Tim Evans from Knight Frank will provide businesses with tips on getting the best out of the commercial property market.

International property group, Goodman, has been a strong supporter of the property show for several years. It will be continuing its association this year as headline sponsor of the event and will be marketing Rainton Bridge Business Park in Houghton-le-Spring which it has developed in partnership with Sunderland City Council.

Niall McGilp, regional development director for Goodman, said “Without doubt the Tyne and Wear Commercial Property Show is one of the leading events in the North of England and we’re delighted to continue our association with the event.

“It’s a great showcase and an incredibly useful opportunity to make new contacts.”
