Board Directors Sought to Unlock Funding Potential

The Key Fund is inviting applications to join its Board of Directors as it enters a new period of expansion.

A member of the Community Development Finance Association, the Key Fund invests around £4m annually of loans, equity and grants to developing, new and existing social enterprises across the north of England and is seeking to increase investment over the next two years to £6m annually. The tailored financial and practical support the Key Fund offers aims to have a lasting social impact, creating local jobs and ploughing millions into the economy.

The organisation, which is in itself a social enterprise, is seeking individuals who specialise in the areas of social investment and financial services.

Ann Oldroyd, CEO of Key Fund, said: “We would also welcome the opportunity to widen the diversity of board membership given our increasing geographical growth. This is an exciting chance to help shape the Key Fund at an important stage of its development.”

The highly skilled staff has delivered over £26 million to social enterprises and other Civil Society organisations since its inception 12 years ago supporting 2,000 organisations, aiding 6,500 training opportunities, 175 new business start-ups, and the creation or safeguarding of 1,822 jobs.

Ann said: “We’re very strongly committed to our vision focusing on disadvantaged areas and communities who benefit most from an enterprising culture. Social investments are of increasing relevance across the mainstream of economic and political thought, presenting a more ethical approach to business, balancing the drive for profits against community, environmental or social impacts.”

Membership of the Key Fund board will provide opportunities to widen and strengthen personal networks and to contribute to the development of an organisation which is nationally recognised for innovation and unique services.

The appointment will initially be for a one year term but the Key Fund is seeking a three year commitment. The closing Date for Applications is Friday 8 June 2012 with anticipated appointments by the end of July.

An allowance of up to £1,500 will be offered to cover lost time from employment, travel, event attendance and associated costs will be met.

For an application pack e-mail Jane Austin at jane.austin@thekeyfund.co.uk or telephone 0845 140 1400.
