A-Plant’s owner Ashtead Group enjoy £130m profit
Owners of a Warrington-based equipment hire business have seen record pre-tax profits for the year rise from £31 million to £130.6 million.
A-Plant is the third largest equipment rental company in the UK with 109 and 1,949 employees at locations across the country.
While around 80% of Ashtead Group’s profit comes from Sunbelt Rentals, the second largest equipment rental business in America, revenue at A-Plant rose by nine per cent from £165.8 million in 2011 to £188.9 million this year.
Ashtead’s Chief Executive, Geoff Drabble said: “The momentum we have established, and the flexibility provided by our strong balance sheet, allows us to anticipate further growth with or without end market recovery.
“As a result, it is likely that our profits in the coming year will be ahead of our previous expectations.”
Ashtead Plant Hire Company Limited was founded in 1947 and has since expanded to offer specialist tool and plant hire including air tools, sanders, pressure washers and compressors. In 2009, A-Plant became the first national rental company in Europe to achieve both the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System Certificate and the SAS 18001 Health and Safety certificates throughout all areas of its business.
