KIS chooses cloud to facilitate expansion

KIS Lettings, an innovative property management and lettings agency with big plans for growth, has switched to cloud computing to facilitate its expansion.

Head quartered in South Shields, KIS also has offices in North Shields and Sunderland and is currently securing premises in Newcastle. As part of its plans to treble its network by 2015, the business has appointed Atlas Infrastructure Management (AtlasIM) to handle all its IT requirements.

This is the latest in a raft of significant contract wins by AtlasIM, after launching the North East’s first pay-as-you-go cloud computing service just last summer.

Ajay Jagota, KIS’s company director, explained. “As we have grown, so have the demands on our server and quite frankly, the costs associated with an upgrade were untenable.

“We needed another option and it soon became clear that cloud technology held the greatest benefits if we made the jump. We spoke to a national company and two within the North East but were most impressed by AtlasIM. The team quickly understood our business objectives and built a scaleable IT model that is highly secure, requires no maintenance and will serve us for years to come.

“We are still using our existing hardware but there will come a time when we will need to upgrade again and we will then lease what we need from AtlasIM, giving us the latest equipment without the associated overheads.”

Pete Watson, AtlasIM’s business development director, commented: “Ajay has big and ambitious plans for KIS which are already coming to fruition and it is great to add the agency to our client portfolio. Although North East growth is the first port of call, KIS looks set to very quickly become a national brand as it continues to deliver exactly what tenants and landlords need.

“Whatever the pace of expansion, we know we can provide the technology the agency requires immediately and without any interruption to service. The cloud is very robust, environmentally-friendly and highly cost efficient, particularly on our pay-as-you-go model – Ajay has already said he has been able to pass his cost-savings onto clients so everyone has gained from the move.”

Ajay launched KIS in 2006 after identifying a gap in the market for a competitively priced lettings management agency which could provide the same high quality service for a fraction of the usual cost. The company currently manages lettings for around 400 landlords across the North East for a five percent management fee.
