New rail link from south Wales to Heathrow
A new £500m rail link from south Wales to Heathrow airport could save journey times by up to 30 minutes.
The route will mean travellers will not have to go through London Paddington, or Reading, to reach the airport.
UK transport secretary Justine Greening said the new link “could provide significantly improved connections from the Thames Valley, the west of England and Wales to the airport and journey time savings of up to 30 minutes.”
Welsh secretary Cheryl Gillan said it will benefit Welsh business and passengers, as the route could be operational by 2021.
