Law firm to lend expertise to university
National law firm Cobbetts are set to provide legal support to the University of Exeter, in a major new contract win.
The Manchester-headquartered firm will provide support on commercial and intellectual property matters over the next four years.
Education specialist Vincent King will lead the venture as the university looks to deliver top quality research and learning experiences to students.
He will be supported by a team comprising partners Susan Hall and Frances Anderson, and associates James Clayton and Nicola Jenkins in Cobbetts’ commercial and intellectual property team.
Vincent said: “Over the past decade, the University of Exeter has transformed into one of the country’s top universities. This is a result of exceptional research and development and sheer dedication shown by staff, students and graduates.
“Higher education bodies must be very clear about what actions to take to protect intellectual property and their commercial interests to remain competitive and at the top of their game.”
Exeter is one of four universities to join the Russell Group earlier this year, along with Durham, Queen Mary and York.
