Should private business provide education?

International publisher Pearson are set to make a foray into further education, as reported on Bdaily.

There’s no doubt that Pearson’s move will provoke a lot of debate on whether private companies should derive profit from education in this way - particularly as Pearson hope students can take out loans from the Student Loans company in order to fund their degrees.

So, is this a positive move in marrying elements of graduate schemes with education, or could the model simply make students pay for training that a business could provide?
