New MD for JF Finnegan

JF Finnegan has announced the appointment of a new Managing Director as part of the firm’s continued commitment to ensuring seamless management progression.

Chairman Philip Hollister, who has been undertaking both MD and Chairman roles since he took the helm at the respected Sheffield contracting and developing firm in 2010, will retain his role as Chairman and hand over the MD duties to JF Finnegan Director Gary Smith.

Gary Smith joined the firm from Henry Boot Construction in 1989 as an Estimator and the company tradition of promoting from within, allowed Gary to rise through the roles to Chief Estimator before his promotion to the Board of Directors in 2010. During his time at JF Finnegan, Gary Smith has been part of the team responsible for the delivery of some of JF Finnegan’s most acclaimed projects ranging from; the redevelopment of Wards Exchange, St Paul’s Place office development, the multi award-winning Sheffield City College and Hillsborough College, Holiday Inn Sheffield, Audi dealership Sheffield and industrial/business park projects such as Brookfields Park and Magna 34 to name a few.

His continued commitment to maintaining and safeguarding the JF Finnegan philosophy of ‘delivering innovative, quality product on time and on budget’ has culminated in his appointment to the senior position. The firm has stated that creation of a separate Managing Director role is a move to strategically place the company for the future whilst allowing Gary to benefit from the experience of Philip Hollister, who has spent his entire working career with JF Finnegan.

Philip Hollister said; “At JF Finnegan we have always taken a strategic approach to the management line-up, ensuring a clear flow throughout the varying levels. During my many years with the firm I have been fortunate to work with some inspirational leaders, latterly several years alongside my predecessor Philip Ryan. By promoting Gary to Managing Director at this time, we can work together to continue the delivery of the JF Finnegan ethos.”

Gary Smith continued; “It is a real honour, and an exciting challenge, to be appointed to the role of Managing Director at JF Finnegan. I have always had a genuine respect for the values of the company and to be in a position to work directly alongside its Chairman and be more actively involved in the running of the business is a career aspiration fulfilled. I am looking forward to continuing the business’ successful strategy to ensure its long-term success in the contracting and development arenas. We maintain our positive outlook for the company as we have a healthy number of projects on site both within the region and across the country, and also have a secure base for the next financial year.”

Ends.
