Northumbria’s e-catalogue showcases specialised kit
Northumbria University is launching an innovative new scheme to increase the use of its key resources and develop further relationships with external partners.
The Northumbria Kit-Catalogue is an online directory containing some of the University’s specialised technological equipment and resources. In addition to providing a central register of assets which is easy to access and navigate, the system also enables external partners and businesses to access the e-catalogue and hire specific facilities.
The catalogue features over 130 items of laboratory equipment, workshop machines and specialist tools. Each piece of ‘kit’ within the e-catalogue contains key data on each featured item including specification, custodians, locations, access requirements, links to appropriate usages and images.
The directory includes some of the University’s most specialised facilities including:
- Analytical instruments
- 3D printers, lasers and scanners
- Laser cutters
- Virtual Reality suites
- Environmental test chambers
- Milling machines
- Impact testers
- And many more…
Speaking about the Kit Catalogue, Graham Hopson, Business Development Manager at Research and Business Services explained: “The Northumbria Kit Catalogue is a new initiative designed to enable external organisations access to our high-tech equipment which might not be accessible elsewhere whilst also avoiding or reducing costly duplication and double purchasing of equipment within the University.
The Northumbria Kit-Catalogue is available at: http://kc-northumbria.lboro.ac.uk/
