“Can it Get Any Worse??: An Economic Turnaround

Businesses in Leeds will have the opportunity to hear Ian Shepherdson, the former chief economist of HSBC’s securities division who now provides specialist economic expertise to the Isos Board, speaking at an event held by the Institute for Turnaround on 20th September 2012 at BTG Restructuring, 9th Floor, Bond Court, Leeds LS1 2JZ at 6pm – 8pm.

Ian will invite attendees to consider the state of the local and also the UK economy, asking: ‘can it get any worse?’. He will then consider the ways in which the local and Yorkshire economy could be applying the skills of turnaround and transformation.

Over 15 of the region’s leading transformation business experts will be there, and available for attendees to discuss any local issues or concerns that are pertinent to turnaround.

The Institute for Turnaround, a not for profit, is the body dedicated to helping businesses in difficulty and to supporting business turnaround and transformation. IFT has over 40 members in the North, living and working locally to help several businesses in difficulty to return to profitability and sustainability.

“The work that our members are doing in Yorkshire is vital. This is a great opportunity for local businesses or anyone interested in the local economy to come along and discuss what can be done to help get it back to its full potential” says IFT’s regional chairman for the North, Daren Bekisz.

What is IFT and what do IFT members do?

The Institute for Turnaround (IFT) is the leading professional body in Britain and Europe for operational, funding and advisory practitioners in business. The principal role of a turnaround professional is to use his or her skills set to bring about profound and radical change. This may mean working in a stressed or distressed organisation, or one whose need is triggered by fast growth, policy change or other drivers.

IFT has over 300 members working across the UK and internationally. Membership is only gained through a rigorous accreditation process. IFT members operate across a diverse range of sectors - from high-profile household names, organisations worth over £500m and public sector agencies to SMEs, charities and small family firms.
