Traidcraft reaches final for top UK employer award
Gateshead based organisation Traidcraft have reached the final of this year’s Workingmums.co.uk Top UK Employer Award, the only North East organisation to have been selected.
Traidcraft, the UK’s leading fair trade retailer and development charity which works to fight poverty through trade with the developing world, has been shortlisted for the final in the category of larger SME’s who demonstrate a real commitment to work life balance practices. Twenty two of the UK’s most progressive employers have been shortlisted for this year’s awards which celebrate organisations who are leading the field in developing innovative ways of working suited to 21st century demands.
Nicki Davies-Jones, Head of Human Resources department at Traidcraft, says: “Traidcraft is a very special place to work for a number of reasons, but it is good to know that our policies and procedures underpinned by a deliberate and genuine caring approach for parents have been recognised. We are delighted to not only have been nominated but to have reached the final of the awards.”
Working mum, Heather Thompson, who has worked at Traidcraft for 6 years, nominated her employer for the award and says:
“After my traumatic first pregnancy and loss of my daughter, the kindness and practical support Traidcraft offered helped me to come to terms with my loss. They accommodated both my emotional and physical needs and continued to be supportive through subsequent pregnancies. Traidcraft really went beyond what might be expected of an employer, which is why I decided to nominate them for the award as I cannot thank them enough.”
The final for the Workingmums.co.uk Top Employer Awards will take place at an awards ceremony in London on November 8th.
