Black Country businesses encouraged to use UKTI support
Businesses across the Black Country are being encouraged to take advantage of the support offered by UKTI to break into overseas markets.
Following the announcement that UKTI would use £13m of funding to help British firms to export, the Black Country LEP has called on the region’s firms to make the most of the support.
Peter Mathews CMG, private sector lead on international trade for the Black Country LEP, said: “We are keen to ensure that Black Country companies benefit from this investment. The support on offer will help reduce initial costs of looking to export into foreign markets and we would urge local firms to find out more about how they can take advantage.
“Today we are in a most competitive global market. It is not like the pre 1980s where we could survive on the UK domestic market alone. UKTI can support those who need to engage for the future in this new interesting world.”
Councillor Roger Lawrence, leader of Wolverhampton City Council and LEP board member, added: “In the Black Country we have thousands of small to medium sized businesses. I hope those in a position to do so are able to benefit from this additional funding to help them explore overseas markets and help expand their operations.”
