Rockliffe Hall clinches another top award

Rockliffe Hall in Hurworth has again been named top of its game at an important national awards’ ceremony.

The 5* resort’s marketing team picked up the gold award for the Best Brand Marketing Campaign at the Meetings Industry Marketing Awards (MIMA) held in London earlier this month (October).

Rockliffe Hall was praised for its ‘Destination Rockliffe’ campaign which focussed on building the Rockliffe Hall brand on a national level to not only raise awareness about the resort as a whole, but also the North East region and what it has to offer.

The campaign has helped to establish Rockliffe Hall as an award-wining, world-class destination just three years after opening and also resulted in a number of other awards including being named as the Large Hotel of the Year at the prestigious VisitEngland Awards for Excellence 2012 in May.

The MIMA Awards celebrate the best marketing practices in the meetings and events’ industry and, now in their tenth year, aim to raise the standards of marketing in the sector.

This year saw hundreds of entries from organisations such as the De Vere Group, the InterContinental Hotels Group, the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre and the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre battling it out in categories such as Best Print Advertising Campaign, Best Website and Best Brochure.

Speaking about the MIMA award, marketing manager of Rockliffe Hall, Katie Scott, said: “This is a tremendous honour for the team as so many very high profile brands were in the running. We invest a lot of time in ensuring our brand constantly evolves and it can often be difficult because we’re a young company and also because the North East region can seem quite isolated from areas such as London and the South East. But this award is great recognition for both our resort and the North East as a whole.”

Despite only opening in 2009, Rockliffe Hall has already scooped a number of top awards. Earlier this year, the resort came second in the list of the UK’s most luxurious hotel destinations as compiled by TripAdvisor’s Travellers’ Choice Awards. Only the Dorchester Hotel on London’s Park Lane finished higher, with Rockliffe Hall beating the likes of The Ritz and Claridge’s. In addition, the awards placed Rockliffe Hall as the fifth most luxurious venue in Europe and ninth in its round up of the world’s most luxurious hotel destinations.

Rockliffe Hall was also named the North East’s Large Hotel of the Year last year, has a triple AA Rosette award for its ‘Kenny Atkinson at The Orangery’ restaurant, was named as a Condé Nast Johansens Excellence Award Finalist, won the Taste Durham Highest Quality Assured and Local Produce Champion award for The Brasserie by Atkinson in January this year and spa director, Liz Holmes, is the current holder of the industry’s Spa Professional of the Year award.

Speaking about Rockliffe Hall’s latest accolade managing director, Nick Holmes, said: “The MIMA awards showcase the best brands and marketing campaigns in the meetings and events sector. To have our brand recognised nationally is such a great achievement for the team and shows now that we are really on the map.”
