Nortech Group Invests in Expansion

Nortech Solutions Limited, the professional engineering design and project management company based at Wynyard, Stockton-On-Tees, has doubled the size of its office space after taking on thirty new members of staff over the last three months.

The company now occupies an additional 3000sq feet of office space at the prestigious Wynyard Park development.

Nortech Group has gone from strength to strength after being established by highly respected engineer Bryan Bunn - who has substantial experience in the oil & gas, petrochemical, chemical, nuclear, iron and steel sectors - in April 2011.

The firm, which now employs 65 members of staff, serves the process, offshore, onshore oil & gas, steel and iron industries. The company’s expansion follows a multi-million pound contract win with EnQuest in July. Nortech is now working with EnQuest on a number of process simplification projects to extend the operating life of the Thistle Alpha platform, which is located 325 north of Aberdeen, by a further 15 years.

The EnQuest contract comes alongside other wins, including Jersey Gas Co Ltd, located in the Channel Islands and an international steel manufacturing client.

As well as Nortech Solutions, the Nortech Group includes Nortech Solutions, which specialises in serving the recruitment needs of the oil and gas sector. Key appointments to the team include project managers, recruitment consultants and administrators.

Bryan Bunn, Managing Director at Nortech Solutions, commented: “We have phased recruitment over the last quarter and have now also acquired an additional 3000sq feet of office space to serve the demands of our growing business.

“It was the right time to devote extra resources to cope with the demand both in the UK and internationally for our services. We’re very proud of our achievements and are looking forward to further building on our reputation in this expanding market.

He added: “We’re finding that the flow of business is being boosted by the buoyancy of the oil and petrochemical markets, particularly the international offshore oil and gas markets, based in Aberdeen. It’s the perfect time for the North East to seize the initiative in this growing sector, and to really put our region on the map as a place that’s ‘open for business,’ and that can leverage success in this exciting sector.”

The UK oil and gas industry has been the largest sector of industrial development throughout the past four decades. It continues to support more than 400,000 jobs and contribute around £8 billion a year to the Exchequer. Although oil and gas production is now in decline, the remaining resource is sufficient to provide major benefits to the economy and to security of supply for many years.
