In his speech to the CBI Annual Conference this week, Vince Cable said we must do more to produce top-flight workers with science and engineering skills.
His speech called upon employers to do some of the “heavy financial lifting” in this area by providing paid internships and sponsorships for example.
Whenever the education issue is raised, we only seem to get a few voices speaking up about employers’ obligations in skills building.
