Facilities management scheme hits the ground running

Specialist training provider Nordic Pioneer has launched a major new initiative which is helping facilities management teams fulfil their growth ambitions – while helping the jobless back into work.

The UK firm, which specialises in providing apprenticeships and training within the cleaning, waste management, environmental and housing sectors, has launched the Nordic Facilities Management Academy (FMA).

Nordic FMA has been developed to help unemployed people gain entry level qualifications before being placed within facilities management organisations.

Specialist bespoke training is provided which meets the specific needs of employers and enables them to find the talent their organisation needs to grow.

And the facility has already landed its first major customer in MJF Cleaning Services, which enlisted Nordic FMA to help fill a number of new positions at the company.

Barry Sleightholme, business development director of MJF Cleaning, said: “Since our partnership with Nordic FMA began, the support that we’ve received from the company has been invaluable.

“When we first discussed the potential of developing a bespoke training programme for potential new staff, we were impressed by Nordic’s genuine approach to preparing candidates for employment. The five candidates who have already been successful in securing employment with us have been working very hard, becoming team players and excellent ambassadors of Nordic Pioneer.”

Nordic’s business development manager Michael Garner added: “It’s really exciting to be working in partnership with MJF Cleaning Services after launching Nordic FMA. We feel the cleaning industry has a poor perception in this country, and many people do not see it as an opportunity into work.

“It is therefore great to be able to provide this solution to getting people back into work and improving the perception of the sector.”

Nordic Pioneer also trains young apprentices from all backgrounds to help them secure employment within the areas of cleaning, waste management, housing and facilities management.
