Radiator Market: Manufacturers anticipate 200million milestone by 2023
The Manufacturers’ Association of Radiators and Convectors (MARC) is anticipating that the number of steel panel radiators installed in UK homes can reach 200 million by 2023.
According to BRG Consult, the market currently stands at approximately 190 million. However, MARC believes the 200 million installed radiator milestone can be hit by 2023 in the UK market, with approximately a million units going into new build homes every year.
John Colling, chairman of MARC, said: “Hitting that milestone in ten years is very feasible, even if the housing market continues at its current deflated rate.
“Radiators continue to be the overwhelming choice for heating homes and remain the most cost effective product for extensions, refurbishments and new build. Additionally, the diversification of the market has seen an increase in the styles and designs available to home owners who are becoming increasingly conscious of the aesthetics of any product which goes into their home.
“If the housing market picks up, we can anticipate that 200 million installed mark to be achieved in advance of 2023, and it is likely that it will be a largely sustainable level of market penetration, with the best and most efficient way of replacing a radiator being to use a similar, but newer model.
“Radiators have been shown to be as efficient as, if not more so than, any other product group and the smart choice for heating for decades to come, so there is no reason why this milestone cannot be achieved.”
MARC represents more than 90% of the UK radiator market. Its membership includes:
- Rettig Group: Myson, Purmo, Vogel &Noot
- ISG: Stelrad, Henrad
- Quinn: Quinn Radiators, Merriott
- Zehnder Group: Bisque, Zehnder
- Kudox
- Aeon/Pitacs
