Find your Freedom

An entrepreneur is combining a minibus service specialising in the transport of wheelchairs with the added service of support work aiming to give more freedom to disabled people living in the North East.

Graeme Donnelly previously worked as an ambulance driver and saw a gap in the market for his business so he visited theNorth East Business and Innovation Centre (BIC) where he was appointed business adviser Chris Craig and Freedom Transport was born. Graeme explains:

“As a support worker you have to be confident to handle certain situations and I am offering a bespoke service, I am providing safe transport and support for users of wheelchairs and for those with limited mobility as well as a general minbus service for up to 16 people.”

“I came to the BIC as they came highly recommended and Chris has been so helpful throughout the whole process. He helped with my business plan and how to market myself, everything from beginning to end. It was very scary when I left my job, taking the leap was exciting but nerve wracking. Since then I haven’t looked back.”

Chris Craig added: “Graeme was focused about what needed to be done right from our first meeting and he is now reaping the benefits of being driven and determined. It’s fantastic to hear how busy he is now. I wish Graeme and his business all the very best.”

The North East BIC offers a wide range of products and services to support the needs of anyone who wishes to start a new business, and assists over 150 enterprises in the getting off the ground each year. To contact the business support team call 0191 516 6149 or email businesssupport@ne-bic.co.uk
