Lord Younger appointed as Business Minister
Viscount Younger of Leckie was appointed as the new Business Minister by PM David Cameron on Wednesday.
Lord Younger, has had extensive career within human resources and financial services before he joied the House of Lords, will become the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department of Innovation and Skills (BIS).
Responsibilities will include overseeing all issues to do with BIS in the House of Lords, while one key role will be to guide the Enterprise and Regulatory Reform Bill through the House in its final stages.
Discussions in the House on this Bill are ongoing over how to make provision for a range of business related initiatives including the Green Investment Bank and the Government plan to cut back on bureaucracy.
Business Minister Lord Younger said: “I am delighted to have been asked by the Prime Minister to do this important job; the business department is central to the Government’s drive for balanced and sustainable growth.
“I look forward to making a real contribution to supporting business to generate new private sector employment and boost our international competitiveness.”
BIS said will issue full details of Lord Younger’s duties shortly.
