800 jobs created at Jaguar Land Rover
Jaguar Land Rover is set to announce the creation of 800 new jobs, revitalising the UK automotive manufacturing industry following Honda’s announced job cuts.
The new jobs are expected to be at the firm’s Solihull factory which produces the Range Rover and Defender models.
Around 6,000 people are already employed at the plant and the news follows Honda’s announcement last week that it would lay-off 800 staff at its Swindon plant.
The Indian-owned Jaguar Land Rover are eyeing growth markets in India and China, and last year announced their intentions to invest £10bn in the UK over the course of the next seven years.
In December the firm began exploring Saudi Arabia, signalling its intentions to develop further manufacturing capabilities in the country.
