SES's Hi-viz help
Pupils from Allesley Primary School, Coventry were taught the importance of being seen and safe, when staff from Shepherd Engineering Services (SES) one of the UK’s leading building engineering services contractors, visited the school recently.
SES’s west midlands regional business manager, Mike Driscoll, visited the school to hand over high visibility vests to the children at a special assembly, which was also attended by a Road Safety Awareness Officer from Coventry Council, who explained why wearing reflective clothing is so important during the darker months.
As part of a nationwide corporate social responsibility initiative, which SES is rolling out across its network of seven offices, the company donated 150 high visibility jackets to the school.
The students will use the jackets to be seen and stay safe while travelling when they are out and about on school trips or carrying out curriculum activities outside the school grounds.
Speaking about the safety talk and donation, head teacher, Matt Potts, said:
“We are very grateful to SES for its kind contribution as the safety of our children is of paramount importance. Teaching them about the dangers associated with building sites will be extremely useful in the future when we embark on a building project of our own when the school is refurbished.
“The children love the jackets and are eager to wear them on trips around the village.”
Mike Driscoll added: “As part of our ongoing corporate social responsibility policy, SES engages with the local community, both close to our offices and at our sites around the region, in a number of different ways. I hope the children get lots of use from the vests. This is a small but important contribution to make and if it keeps one child safe then it will be worthwhile.”
