HMV’s demise has been painful to watch, and this week’s announcement comes as no great surprise.
Given the store’s iconography there’s been a lot of talk about the episode, but is it fair to say that HMV had simply strayed too far from its USP as the music shop? Did t-shirts, mugs, books and gadgets dilute it beyond all recognition?
