Clegg said a referendum would have a “chilling effect” and over at the chilly World Economic Forum in Davos, many commentators gave the Prime Minister’s promise of an in/out referendum a similarly frosty reception.
WPP boss Martin Sorrell said long-term investment decisions could be affected by the news, and economist Sir Howard Davies said it “won’t solve anything.”
Sorrell said we should be chasing the trillions lying on company balance sheets around the world instead of tinkering with our EU membership. Does he have a point?
