Will Davos rock Osborne's world?
IMF chief economist Olivier Blanchard suggests George Osborne should ease off on his programme of austerity. Speaking to BBC Radio 4’s Today programme, Blanchard said austerity might be hurting more than was thought.
His comments were backed by the likes of Guy Ryder, director general of the International Labour Organisation, speaking to the Guardian, said it would “make sense to adjust the dosage.”
Adam Posen, former Bank of England official, also told a Treasury select committee that public spending has been cut too quickly.
