New director of Campus Services at Northumbria
Northumbria University has appointed Damon Kent as its new Director of Campus Services. He replaces Trevor Thurlow who retired last year.
Damon is a Northumbria graduate who joins the University from Virgin Money. His portfolio includes estates, sports and accommodation across sites in Newcastle and London including the RICS award-winning City Campus East development.
In his career he has managed the facilities and estates for Grainger PLC and Northern Rock where, amongst other things, he was responsible for the development of their major office campus schemes at Gosforth and Sunderland.
Damon said: “I came to Northumbria for a variety of reasons. The challenge of working in the HE sector and at such a large organisation was certainly part of the appeal. Northumbria University provides an invaluable service to the region and is responsible for launching thousands of careers and I was very keen to be able to contribute to the region by working here.
“We have an attractive and impressive city campus but also with the Trinity Square site – we have the exciting prospect of being part of a hugely ambitious development which will accommodate almost 1,000 students and transform Gateshead town centre – extending Northumbria’s reach and influence across the area.”
