How will businesses tackle the ageing population?

The House of Lords’ Public Service and Demographic Change Committee has published a report on demographic changes, entitled “Ready for Ageing?”

The thrust of the report reveals there are many ways in which the UK is not in fact ready for ageing. A 50% rise in those aged 65+ by 2030 will pose challenges to services, employment practices and pensions.

Chairman of the Committee, Lord Filkin, said: “This is not a distant issue; our population is older now and will get more so over the next decade. The public are entitled to an honest conversation about the implications.”

Ageing consumers and ageing workers. What implications will this have for business, and what opportunities might it pose?
