IT provider Onyx Group has announced that it has been chosen as the data centre for the rapidly growing Zebra Internet Services.
As part of a six-figure deal, Zebra is outsourcing its data centre to an Onxy group facility in Newcastle as it continues to expand.
The move will see Zebra transfer its hosting and connectivity services to Stockton-based Onyx Group’s nearby ISO 27001 accredited facility..
During an extensive evaluation process, Onyx surpassed competitors in terms of infrastructure quality, experience and its ability to cater for future growth .
Neil Stephenson, CEO at Onyx Group said: “Ensuring the integrity of mission critical data and the resilience of businesses through the provision of secure data centres and business continuity solutions is a core part of our business.
“Zebra shares our entrepreneurial approach to business and, like us, was one of the region’s first internet start-ups when it formed in the mid-nineties.
“We are delighted that Zebra has decided to relocate its services to our data centre in Newcastle and we look forward to a long and successful relationship with the company as its client base continues to expand.”
Established in 1994, Onyx Group has grown from a regional, home grown IT company to a national technology provider with sites throughout the UK including London, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Newcastle, Teesside and Sheffield..
Annabel Cornish, managing director at Zebra Internet Services said: “In terms of a high security colocation space with the expansion opportunities to match our business strategy, and from which we could continue to provide our clients with the best possible security and service,
“Onyx Group’s data centre suited our needs perfectly.
“As well as being impressed with the quality of its IT infrastructure, the location of the Onyx data centre, which is above the region’s flood plains, adds extra resilience for our customers.
“Zebra has a fantastic range of long term customers who can now also benefit from our other services, including business continuity solutions.
“Part of this service is the provision of workplace recovery centres for use when a workplace is inaccessible due to circumstances such as flooding, bad weather or fires.”
