Small businesses encouraged to do more online
The Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) are encouraging small high street businesses to market themselves more effectively online.
A study commissioned by the FSB suggests one-in-four small businesses do not have a website, and of those that do, only a third are using it for sales.
The calls are part of the Local Business Week, a national campaign which runs until May 19th, and aims to encourage consumers to buy from their local businesses.
Mike Cherry, National Policy Chairman, Federation of Small Businesses, said: “Once the high street starts to go into decline it can be difficult to revive. But with the right measures from councils and local authorities the tide can be turned.
“We are supporting Local Business Week and its pledge for shoppers to buy three things on their local high street. However, we also want to see small firms maximise the opportunities that technology presents, so they can be competitive and grow their business and have a positive impact on the communities they rely on for business.”
