Bestobell wins contract with LNG fuel system manufacturer
Bestobell Valves, part of the Sheffield-based President Engineering Group (PEGL), is celebrating becoming a preferred supplier to Wärtsilä Gas Power Systems (GPS), the Finland-headquartered global leader in gas power solutions for the marine and energy markets.
The agreement has come about after Bestobell Valves demonstrated to Wärtsilä GPS over a number of projects its technical expertise, the quality of its products and a commitment to high levels of customer service in supplying cryogenic valves for Wärtsilä’s market-leading LNGPac fuel system.
Bestobell’s LNG (liquefied natural gas) cryogenic valves are specifically designed for marine applications, which includes the requirement for the valves to have firesafe properties, whereby all components must be able to withstand a minimum temperature of 925 degrees centigrade (as per the interim IGF code).
Mark Henley, managing director of President Engineering Group, said: “It is very exciting to become a preferred supplier to Wärtsilä and it is a partnership which will bring major benefits for both parties.
“Our technical expertise and support means we can be dedicated to working closely with Wärtsilä on its latest innovative projects to ensure the company receives the most efficient valve solution for these applications.”
The contracts include supplying LNG cryogenic valves for the fifth Harvey Gulf OSV, Harvey America, which has been ordered by Harvey Gulf International Marine, as part of the company’s ‘going green’ initiative.
Bestobell has already delivered its valves for the previous four vessels and the total series may run to eight vessels.
The business is a world-leader in the manufacture of LNG cryogenic valves, with over 50 years industrial gas experience and 15 years’ successfully supplying to LNG marine markets.
