Brighouse home improvement specialist launches apprenticeship scheme
Brighouse-based home improvement specialist Ploughcroft is seeking its first apprentices as part of the company’s future expansion plans.
Founder and managing director Chris Hopkins is offering up to five apprenticeships at the company, which specialises in energy efficient home improvements.
Hopkins is seeking candidates with ‘entrepreneurial spirit’ with the potential to perform across different areas of the Ploughcroft business, including sales and marketing.
He said: “There are lots of opportunities out there for would-be entrepreneurs but no one seems to be teaching our school leavers how to spot them.
“I’ve been in business for 20 years and got a lot of experience that I can share with today’s young people.
“I’ve experienced the highs and the lows of being in business and can show them what it takes to be a real entrepreneur.”
The Ploughcroft apprenticeships – in business and administration – are aimed at 16-18 year olds and will be delivered by training company Business Impact UK Ltd.
At the end of 12 months, the apprentices will gain an Intermediate Apprenticeship in Business and Administration.
“The apprenticeship will involve working alongside me in the Ploughcroft business,” explained Hopkins. “The apprentices will gain first-hand experience of what it’s like to work in business and just how tough it can be – but also how rewarding it is when you succeed.”
Ploughcroft plans to hold an open day during July at which candidates will be able to show their entrepreneurial spirit by pitching for one of the apprenticeship places.
