Graduate takes home annual ICE award
The Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) North East has presented a graduate from Newcastle University with its annual award for excellence in engineering.
The ICE Best Stage 4 MEng Student award was presented to Josh Stitt for his performance during his studies towards his Civil Engineering MEng (Hons) degree.
Josh, from Ulverston, in the Lake District, graduated with a first-class honours degree and will begin his engineering career with MWH UK Limited in Edinburgh as a graduate civil engineer.
His older brother Jack also graduated from Newcastle University’s School of Civil Engineering & Geosciences in 2011.
Josh said: “I am delighted to have won this prestigious award, which was a nice finish to the year and topped off my degree. I really enjoyed my four years on the Civil Engineering course and I am looking forward to starting my career in engineering in September with MWH.”
Penny Marshall, Interim Director of the Institution of Civil Engineers North East, said: “The Institution of Civil Engineers prides itself in the development of young talent in the engineering sector, and the ICE award, presented annually to a worthy student at Newcastle University, is an excellent way of showing this.
“We are delighted to present Josh with the award because he has performed extremely well throughout his studies and this culminated with a first-class honours degree. We would like to wish him the best of luck with his career.”
