NWS to create 200 Yorkshire jobs this year

Barnsley-based NWS, one of the largest and most experienced installers of energy saving measures in the UK, has appointed 80 new staff in the past four weeks and has ambitious plans to create 120 new jobs before the end of the year.

This doubling in size of the company is due to NWS, formerly known as Nationwide Solar, recently being approved as a Green Deal Installer and Assessor, which means it can offer 13 energy efficient measures to householders.

These measures include the installation of Solar PV (creating savings and income of around £635 per year), solid wall insulation - both internal and external, loft insulation and cavity wall insulation, as well as fitting energy efficient glazing and doors, new energy efficient boilers and draught proofing, installing heating controls for central heating and warm air systems and upgrading lighting systems.

To add to this, NWS, which has its head office in Tankersley, has also recently been awarded Green Deal Provider status, which means it is one of the first companies in the UK to be able to offer the Government’s Green Deal Cashback scheme to householders.

The Cashback scheme gives householders across England and Wales the opportunity to claim cash back from the Government on energy saving improvements, such as insulation, front doors, windows and boilers.

Russ Cowan, managing director of NWS, said: “This is a hugely exciting time for us, as we have expanded rapidly over the past few weeks, with new staff including Green Deal assessors, technical surveyors, administration staff and heating engineers, through to window fitters and insulation specialists.

“Now we have been approved as a Green Deal provider, it means that at last people can access Government funding to pay for their energy efficient home improvements – and we are one of the few providers in the country that can help them with this.”
