New hot seat appointments for RICS matrics Yorkshire & Humber

Adam Osborne, a senior surveyor at GVA of Leeds, has been appointed new chairman of RICS matrics Yorkshire and Humber, while Stuart Dalton, building surveyor at Jacobs UK Ltd in Harrogate, is the the new vice chairman.

RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) matrics Yorkshire and Humber is a networking and support group for surveying students, trainees and those with less than ten years surveying experience.

Adam joined the committee in 2010 and was vice chair between 2011 and 2013. He proved a valuable asset, helping to organise many large scale events, such as the group’s annual Summer Ball and the coordination of local low-cost seminars across the region to help surveyors with their ongoing professional development.

Before becoming vice chair, Stuart excelled as a member of the group’s committee, helping to organise social occasions and sharing his expertise and knowledge with members. Professionally, he and Adam have been involved with many major property projects in and around Yorkshire.

Adam Osborne said: “I’m delighted with my appointment and that Stuart is vice chairman. We hope to build on the achievements of the previous chair, Victoria Mann, Regional Director at Ashtenne, who grew activities in Yorkshire and Humber.”

“Together with the committee, Stuart and I will be looking to promote the surveying profession as a potential career path by engaging with young people at both school and further education levels. We are also in the process of finalising our activities for autumn and winter, which will include a wide range of affordable professional development and networking events, offering vital support and information to trainee and recently qualified surveyors.”

The group’s autumn Continuing Professional Development (CPD) series will run from 1st to 29th October, with a CPD session taking place each Tuesday at 18:00 in Leeds City Centre.
