Marketing Maestros share success secrets at Manchester event

Four top entrepreneurs will share the secrets of their success with Manchester businesses at a free event at the National Football Museum.

The live panel discussion, which features the business people behind successful British brands King of Shaves, Green & Blacks and Jojo Maman Bébé, will give those looking to start or grow a business the chance to find out how to use innovative marketing strategies to find their own niche in a crowded marketplace.

The event is being held at the British Library in London, but audience members at a live Manchester beam-back will be able to put their questions on all aspects of marketing to the panel on the night.

As well as sharing their own experiences, the ‘Marketing Maestros’ will discuss traditional and cutting-edge marketing methods, giving advice on how to successfully reach new markets and turn customers into loyal fans.

As well as access to the London panel, attendees will get the chance to quiz Manchester-based entrepreneur Simon Swan, who will be at the National Football Museum in person.

Simon, who was named UK Software Entrepreneur of the Year in 2012, will speak to attendees about his rapidly growing recruitment business, Hiring-Hub.com, which has been recognised as one of the country’s Top 100 start-ups.

The event, organised by Manchester Libraries and the British Library with the support of Barclays as part of the new Business and Intellectual Property National Network, follows a sell-out event held at the Midland Hotel in June, which provided advice for budding businesses in the food and drink sector. Executive Member for Culture and Leisure, Councillor Rosa Battle, said: “We want to make sure that our libraries give the best possible information to people in Manchester who want to start their own business. Working in partnership with the British Library, we are excited to hold another event which will offer invaluable insight to the city’s next wave of entrepreneurs.”

Since opening in 2006, the British Library’s Business and IP Centre has provided entrepreneurs with information and expert advice on how to start and grow successful businesses.

Isabel Oswell, Head of Business Development at the British Library’s Business and IP Centre, said: “This is a must-attend event for all small businesses wishing to learn some tried and tested marketing techniques, to break into new markets and create an exciting and talked-about brand.”

Sue Hayes, Managing Director of Barclays Business, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for businesses to be inspired by successful entrepreneurs and learn all about the latest marketing techniques. Growing businesses should aim to seek out as much advice as possible be that from other business owners, the British Library, online or from your bank.

“Small and Medium Enterprises are the life blood of the British economy and it is programmes like this that can help develop the next big business success stories in the UK.”

The free event takes place on Monday 16 September between 5.45 and 9.15pm.
