Mayor of Darlington welcomes growing accountancy firm
The Mayor of Darlington Cllr Charles Johnson has officially opened V&A Vigar & Co (Darlington) on the town’s Victoria Road.
The accountancy firm, which handles the tax and other financial affairs of small and medium-sized businesses and owner managers, is opening its first office in the North East. The firm also has offices in Peterborough, Huddersfield and Cambridgeshire.
Self-styled Business Battle-axe Amanda Vigar, who writes a regular blog at http://businessbattle-axe.blogspot.co.uk, and is a columnist in West Yorkshire, has partnered with Sue Gudgeon, a Darlington-based business support consultant and tax investigations specialist, to launch the new venture.
The group, which was established ten years ago, prides itself on its commitment to ‘localism’ after establishing strong connections in each of the regions in which it operates.
Amanda Vigar heads up a team of Chartered Accountants, Chartered Tax Advisers, Chartered Management Accountants and Accounting Technicians serving clients throughout the UK.
Amanda, who has trained and qualified as an accountant, tax adviser and as a barrister, said: “I’m delighted, and very excited, to now have a base in Darlington and to be in a position to help small and medium sized businesses in particular to get their financial affairs in order. Now, more than ever, it’s important for owner managers to have access to an accountancy service where they can enjoy a high and sustained level of service and which makes them aware of any issues that might arise before they happen.
“We already have clients in the region as well as a satellite office and considered that the time was right to establish a permanent base in the region. Darlington has excellent transport links and is well situated for our clients based in the North East and Yorkshire regions.”
Cllr Charles Johnson said: “I am delighted to open the new office of V&A Vigar which is a thriving small business and a very welcome addition to the town. Tax affairs are the life blood of any small and medium sized business, and it is fantastic to know that Darlington is now being served by another first class firm of accountants. I wish Amanda and Sue and their team a very warm welcome to our town.”
