Booming energy sector creates work for Newcastle surveyors
Newcastle chartered building surveyors, Silverstone Building Consultancy, say the North East energy sector is providing growth.
The firm has received a number of instructions from businesses such as DUCO, Swagelok, Global Marine Systems, TTE Technical Training and Tekmar Energy.
Silverstone have been working with NOF Energy to build a customer base in the regional energy sector.
Ben Hunter, director at Silverstone said: ’We have worked proactively with NOF to make a number of new client introductions with supply chain companies.
“As a result of the work we have carried out within the energy sector we have developed a stronger understanding of its importance in the North East market. We have gained specialist knowledge and experience which we are confident will help us secure further new clients in this growing sector.
“The booming energy sector in the North East is a catalyst for opportunities for Silverstone and the commercial property market. All of the supply chain businesses in the sector have commercial property needs whether it be for storage, manufacturing, engineering or offices.
“Some growing businesses are expanding their sites or relocating to new ones. We are able to offer specialist building surveys and project management services to deal with property issues such as dilapidations obligations, due diligence surveys and the design and coordination of refurbishment works for these businesses.”
During the past year Silverstone has carried out detailed building surveys on major sites for both Global Marine Systems and Duco with a view to expanding their respective facilities.
One of the sites extended to 16 hectares and the work involved co-ordinating a number of specialist surveys of the buildings and their grounds, including environmental surveys and testing for erosion and contamination.
They have also project managed the refurbishment of Swagelok’s new Teesside headquarters and have more recently been instructed to project manage works at Tekmar’s headquarters in Newton Aycliffe.
