Multilingual search agency and Leeds Met team up

Leeds Metropolitan University has announced an international collaboration with specialist multilingual search agency Search Laboratory.

Search Laboratory, which has three offices in Leeds, will work specifically with the institution’s marketing with foreign languages course, to offer internships to students, help set final year projects, guest lecture and also sit on the employer advisory board.

The announcement yesterday coincided with the Council of Europe’s European Day of Languages. Now in its 12th year, the day aims to raise awareness of Europe’s different languages and cultural differences.

Search Laboratory works with clients such as ASOS, River Island and Polycom, on a global basis in over 35 languages, and will use its expertise to help bring a practical element to the Leeds Met course.

The fast-growing agency also recently announced plans to create 70 jobs in Leeds over the next 12 months, with the search specialist hoping to source several of these candidates from its collaboration with the university.

Head of multilingual search marketing at Search Laboratory, Ed Langley, said: “I’m really excited about the opportunities working with Leeds Met will bring. The university is bulging with young talent and it’s extremely important for us to be able to offer fantastic experiences and roles to young, talented people.

“Search marketing is a fairly young industry and I’m delighted that we’ve been invited to sit on the employer advisory board, so that we can work with the university to ensure graduates have all the necessary skills to enter the online marketing job market.

“A key aspect of our relationship with Leeds Met is our international focus – we both work with people from all over the world and know how different people and cultures fit together – so you could say that our relationship is the perfect match.”

This is not the first time Leeds Met and Search Laboratory have teamed up, with the university featuring two of the company’s employees on its alumni billboard campaign in Leeds last month.
