New animation series partners with toy firm

CHF Media Group has partnered with Cheshire toy design firm Carterbench Product Development, on all aspects of licensing for its new animation series, Pip!.

CHF Entertainment is the team behind eighties shows Danger Mouse and Wind in the Willows, and this new series will feature Sir David Jason.

The programme is aimed at a pre-school audience. The creative team at Carterbench work closely with the creators of Pip! to ‘ensure every aspect of the programme can be made successfully into toys’.

Simon Hall, managing director and head of production at CHF said: “We are delighted to form this partnership with Carterbench,”

“They have an excellent heritage working with many of the world’s leading toy companies and their expertise will be invaluable in developing Pip!

“Children must first engage with the stories and parents have to love the look of your brand if they are to buy merchandise, so it’s vital to understand what appeals to them.

“Working so closely together with Carterbench from the outset of the project allows us to make sure that there is a seamless transition between animation and product.”

Rob Kay, managing director of Macclesfield-based Carterbench added: “We look forward to joining the team at CHF Entertainment who have such a rich and well respected heritage.

“Pip! has great appeal and I am happy to say that we have already had some initial discussions with a number of toy licensing companies and the series has been very well received, in particular the seaside location.”

Pip! is set in the town of Salty Cove and features creatures including Mouse Pirates and Puffins. Sir David Jason will provide the voice of Pip’s caring uncle, Skipper.

The show is scheduled for broadcast on Channel 5 next year.
