Keepmoat donates funds towards school’s centenary

Housing developer, Keepmoat Homes has donated £200 towards a local school’s centenary celebrations.

The donation was made to Edlington Victoria Primary School in Edlington, Doncaster which is celebrating its centenary this week (October 24).

The school is celebrating 100 years by holding a celebratory week from Monday, October 21 where pupils will be learning about all the different decades since 1913, culminating with a two-day experience of what life was like for a school child during this time.

The pupils will celebrate the two-day experience by dressing in traditional period clothing and parents will be invited to attend a traditional Harvest Assembly.

Keepmoat donated £200 towards some centenary cups which will be given out to all current pupils, last year’s Year 6 pupils and visitors to the school on Thursday, October 24.

The school organised a ‘design a mug’ competition and the winning design by Natalie Clark was selected to appear on one side of the cups with a picture of the school and centenary dates on the other.

Keepmoat Homes is developing a brand new housing scheme approximately one mile from the school. The first phase of the scheme at Yew Gardens off Stubbins Hill, consists of 103 two and three bedroom family homes.

Shelly Warriner, Homes Sales Executive at Keepmoat Homes’ Yew Gardens development, presented the donation to the school and said, “We were approached by the school to support their celebratory week for their centenary and were more than happy to support this.

“It’s fantastic for the local area and for all the children, current and previous, to celebrate this special occasion. A celebratory cup is a lovely idea to present to the children and it will remind them of the occasion for many years to come.”

Helen Roe, Acting Assistant Headteacher at Edlington Victoria Primary School, said: I would like to thank Keepmoat for their donation. We have had a very good response from the community of Edlington and are looking forward to the celebrations.“

House prices at Yew Gardens start at £74,396 on the Help to Buy scheme for a two bedroom Normanby home.
